Subject - Westfield Kit Car

Task: To make a bonnet that would cover the engine, without blocking the drivers forward vision.

This was never going to be a pretty solution, but I tried from the outset to keep the new shape as close to the engine as possible. This meant some crafty use of liquid expanding foam, but first the engine had to be protected by covering it in film, to stop it becoming clogged in goo! Then out came the saw, sanding block and filler......then the fibreglass. The car is going to be used primarily as a “track day car” and after a few months of settling in, it got a coat of 2pk gloss black. With all the panels sprayed in the requested “track day finish”..... all it needs is bolting back together and find a track!!
